The Buccaneers opened their season with a tough fixture against the Brawlers, falling to a 16–1 defeat in their first game back.
The Bucs showed some early rust in the opening inning, with the Brawlers putting nine runs on the board to take control of the game. However, after a difficult start, the Buccaneers settled well and began to find their rhythm.
Defensively, the team tightened up as the game went on, working hard to limit the Brawlers and prevent them from completely racing away. It was a much stronger showing after the opening inning and gave the Bucs something positive to build on.
Offensively, it was also a slow start, with the Buccaneers’ only run coming in the first inning. While it was not the result the team wanted, the first game of the season is always about shaking off the cobwebs, getting back into match rhythm and building towards stronger performances ahead.
Female MVP was awarded to Cammy, while Colin picked up Male MVP honours for his performance.
There was also a big shoutout for Simon, who made his first appearance for the Bucs.

Not the start the Buccaneers were hoping for, but there were positives to take from the way the team responded after the opening inning. The focus now turns to the next game as the Bucs look to build momentum.
